Schools thrive when positive relationships are cultivated and nurtured. This section includes just a few examples of how I have established and maintained positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the community at large.
When our schools were shut down in the spring of 2020 and were unable to perform our spring concert, I created this slideshow and shared it with the students and their families on the night our spring concert was due to occur. It has a special section honoring our graduating seniors.
I like to randomly distribute notes of appreciation to my students during class. This is one example of notes I've given to my students.
I like to establish traditions with my groups. I find that the students come to look forward to them and they promote bonding. One tradition I started years ago was to to take a group selfie before each concert. This is one such group selfie.
I teamed up with two friends from other departments to form a Random Acts of Kindness passion project group. We would look for ways to brighten the day for our colleagues. This tweet documents one of our pancake breakfasts.
To welcome parents at Back To School Night, I placed a bowl of mints with this message outside the classroom.
For many years, the Morris County Council of Education Associations hosted a weeklong "Mall Project". This ways a way to feature work of students throughout the county at the Rockaway Mall. This is a photo of one of my chamber ensembles performing at this event.
