Related Work

This section contains a few more samples of my administrative work to supplement those in the other sections of this portfolio.

PLC Facilitation

This is an example of documentation of PLC work for which I was a facilitator.  I had taken a graduate course on the topic of differentiated instruction so I felt comfortable leading the group in our monthly meetings and helping my colleagues to implement DI strategies in their respective classes.

Planning for Viable Use of Facilities

Handbook

I generated this handbook when I was the 6th Grade Band Director.  It includes all of the relevant information students/parents need to know including an explanation of when lessons and rehearsals occur, grading, and concert dates.  It also includes a portion to be signed and returned to acknowledge its receipt.

Action Plan

I created this action plan to improve the initial band experience at the middle school.  The plan proved to be very successful and I utilized many of these ideas even when I taught older students.  This action plan underscores the importance of both short- and long-term goal setting.

Compilation of Instruments to be Sold

Over time, the district's inventory of instruments aged and many were no longer viable to be used.  I compiled this document to record each instrument's description, serial number, and appearance which was then sent to a company that accepted these instruments in exchange for a credit for new instruments.

Staff Survey

The use of bells to signal start and end times of classes was a topic of discussion when I served on the middle school Principal's Liaison Committee.  I conducted this survey to gauge the staff's preferences and shared with the results with the administration so a consensus could be established.
